Merry Christmas 2017 and Happy New Year 2018

Life is good … knock on wood.  June and I have settled into a nice daily routine, and we take advantage of our condos being only 50 steps apart.  Most days include a 5,000-step walk, either with our Labradoodle Millie or, when the weather is bad, by ourselves at Kenwood Towne Center.  We generally run errands and do grocery shopping together.  We each enjoy lunches with friends.  No golf for me this year.  The golf swing is just not compatible with chronic lower back pain.  We belong to the Cincinnati Art Museum, the Taft Museum and the Cincinnati Zoo, all delightful places to visit.  And we enjoy Ensemble Theatre, productions at UC’s College Conservatory of Music and other stage attractions.  I go to Xavier basketball games with two buddies. X is fun to watch these days.  June and I found a Siesta Key complex that allows dogs and is across the street from the beach, so we spent two weeks there in early April getting reacquainted with the sun.  We’ll go back to the same location next April.  We went to football homecoming weekend at West Virginia, my alma mater.  We traveled to Chicago where June’s daughter and her husband hosted the family for Thanksgiving dinner.  Work as a board member of a private foundation occupies about one-third of my workday and is fulfilling as we make grants to non-profit organizations benefiting young people.  Roger Ruhl Marketing remains quiet, by design.  Ken Burns’ 16-hour Vietnam series on PBS mesmerized and drained us for nearly two weeks in September, and it rekindled lots of memories for me and brought daily email exchanges with two buddies I knew from our days together in Phuoc Vinh.  June and I will celebrate Christmas Eve with my daughter Becky and her husband Joe.  We’ll be with June’s family on Christmas Day for dinner and a fun gift exchange.  This year’s Christmas card photo was taken during our annual search for the perfect tree at Big Tree Plantation.  Keep in touch – RogerLRuhl@aol.com (www.RogerRuhl.com).  My address is 10889 Ponds Lane, Cincinnati, OH 45242.  My land line telephone number is 513/598-1141.
